The L.A Weight Loss Diet – Secret to Success… Or is it Just another Fad?

L.A Weight Loss centers have been around since 1989 and can be found in various parts of America, Canada and Europe. The L.A Weight Loss diet is like many other programs on the market, aiming to help clients lose weight mainly through adapting new eating patterns but also through an increase in exercise.

The L.A Weight Loss chain is ever-growing and becoming one of the biggest players on the market. However, the big question is: does the L.A Weight Loss diet work? Or is just another expensive fad? The L.A Weight Loss diet is an individually designed program based on client gender, weight, height, age, activity level and medical history to calculate a specific calorie level in which dieters eat according to a prescribed food plan.

However unlike most programs, clients of the L.A Weight Loss diet count portions from different food categories: proteins, fruits and vegetables, fat, starch and dairy. The diet works out to around 45 percent carbohydrates, 35 percent to 40 percent protein, and 15 percent to 20 percent fat.

The program consists of three phases, where dieters learn how to prepare foods healthily whilst enabling them access to private counseling and weigh-in sessions along the way. The first initial stage is designed for weight loss, where clients are placed on a very low calorie diet (usually 1100 to 1800 calories per day), phasing into the sencond phase after they’ve lost their goal weight, called the 6 week stabilization phases. The third and final stage is a maintenance program that uses counseling sessions to help the client maintian their weight loss long-term.

But Does It Work?

Dieters of the L.A Weight Loss diet do seem to lose weight, however it has been commented from numerous sources that clients ‘don’t have much wriggle room’. In other words, if clients follow the diet – which is very low in calories, even for a typical weight loss diet – they will most certainly have to lose weight.

This will especially be so if the client participates in regular exercise as well, which is recommended in the program. However, despite this, the diet may be a little expensive for some, being US$5 - $9 per week (which is paid for up front). All foods can be brought at the supermarket, however like most programs; they do recommend that you purchase some of the L.A Weight Loss foods such as snack bars and supplements in addition to your program fees.

In conclusion, should weight loss be your number one goal, the L.A Weight Loss program is certainly designed to do just that. Their weight-loss success record appears to be quite satisfactory, with the company’s ambitions to improve and grow in time to come. However, should you decide to join up on the L.A Weight Loss program, do be prepared to pay for it, and like any diet, feel a little puckish throughout!

Stephanie :

I live in Toronto, Ontario (Canada). I joined LA Weight Loss on Wednesday, September 5th, 2007 and I am excited to say that I have lost a total of 14 pounds (in just under 4 weeks). I do buy the LA Lites (snack bars), but that is the only product which I purchase from LA Weight Loss and I have never felt pressured to purchase any of their other products nor have they made me feel as though I will not succeed without using all of the other products. All of the food items listed in my meal plan are things that I already had at home. I am very happy with this program. It has taught me all about portion control and how to eat properly for the rest of my life. I eat 5 to 6 times a day (3 meals and 2 to 3 snacks) and I can truly say that there is no point in the day where I can say I’m starving. I am actually eating more frequently than I ever did before and I’m losing weight. I paid $700 for this program and I pay $40 a week for the LA Lites and I don’t regret spending that money at all. When I think about how much money I was spending before on plus-sized clothing, fast food, and junk food I’m sure that I spent much more than $700. And the $40 a week - I just think of that as another tank of gas. I recommend this program to anyone who wants to make a positive life change.
